Nigel is passionate about supporting and working with youth and men in relationships. Originally trained as a teacher and then a youth worker. Nigel has extensive experience with youth and their families. His work with men and youth, and interest in masculinity, identity and parenting issues gives him particular skills around engaging with men and youth who may be reluctant about engaging with counselling.
Married in 2003 and a “stay-at-home” parent for his daughter’s preschool years he has some insight into the opportunities and challenges of adjusting to changing roles and circumstances.
Nigel holds a Masters degree in Narrative Counselling Therapy, in addition his work draws upon CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Art Therapy, Psychodrama, Hakomi (mindfulness psychotherapy) and Compassionate Communication (NVC) among others according to clients needs. Nigel has participated in advanced training and experience in England, Australia and USA and has an ongoing commitment to my professional development. I participate in several specialist or advanced training events annually. Nigel provides counselling supervision to other Counsellor and Therapists
