Robyn is a authentic, open hearted, down to earth woman who has over 20 yrs experience in the field of counselling, group work, supervision and coaching. Although Robyn has worked with individuals and families, it is couple work which has become the focus of her career. In her own words, "it is the work I love to do. When I am doing couple therapy, the combination of skills developed through my life have an opportunity to be fully realised. I feel inspired by the work and believe I have a genuine gift for supporting couples back into their loving. "
She previously worked with Relationship Aotearoa as a senior therapist and Champion of Supervision. She has trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)which is a highly researched specialized couples therapy modality. EFT maintains that couples form a attachment-based bond. Often when couples are having problems there has been some breach or perceived breach of that bond.
Robyn has had a lot of experience working with same sex couples and feels passionate about giving all couples the opportunity to deepen their connection, intimacy and love. Robyn also works with couples who have decided to separate. She sees this work as deeply important and to honour the treasure acquired during the relationship and prepare for the journey further.
Robyn will help you understand the pattern that has developed in your relationship which often leads couples into playing out the same scene over and over again. She will help you look deeper into the underlying reasons that you and your partner end up disconnected and questioning the love you used to hold so dear. Robyn approaches the work with compassion and humor, helping you both to re-experience the feelings that brought you together.
Robyn's experience includes working with a broad range of complex issues, including; Attachment traumas, parenting, separation & infidelity, family violence, mental health, addiction issues, grief and loss.
Robyn has a Bachelor of Counselling applied and has continued with personal and professional development throughout her career. Which include training in Systemic Family Therapy, Pink therapy and Emotional Focused Therapy. Robyn has been a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors since 1997.
